great site, thanks for the info so far and to come... what im trying to do is to try to envision (not write yet, just trying to contimplate how this will be put together before i start writing) a memreader script.... what i need to know to start, however, is how the game FFXI sends and receives information. In other words, i'm trying to design a way to send a command to a packet of data within my computer system, but not yet part of the game screen/field (heh, gee whiz i wonder why i'd want to do that )... does anyon ehav eany information about how the game accesses data that it receives from the server and how to engage it? if this question makes no sense whatsoever i'm sorry...as i said, im in the development phase, and not too interested in cracking the game itself just yet ><

FFXI uses a TCP link for POL data and UDP for everything else. As far as anyone can tell, all network traffic is encrypted with SSL. Network packets arent that hard to intercept and read, but you will have to break the SSL encryption to do anything useful with the data. If you can do that, you are dangerous indeed Interestingly enough, the AH has its own network protocol that does not appear to be encrypted. If you want to get info on mobs that may not have spawned yet, your best bet is to start scanning memory I wouldnt be supprised if its in there somewhere. The FFACT forums have alot of good info on scanning memlocs. Take a look. Let me know if you find anything cool.
