I had a thought about tracking the movement of the fishing pole... has anyone thought about looking at the data packets sent my the FFXI server to your client? I'm not sure if the pole movement are randomly generated on your own computer or sent by the FFXI server. But I wanted to throw this out there for thought. I doubt the data would be encoded in anything too special.
The challange to implementing something like this would be trying to first interpret the information within a whole lot of packets and then send real-time commands. But it might not be as hard versus pixel catching.

Fishpole movement is generated in your own machine and can be located in game memory. You may want to check this site out as they have found the memory locations and have developed a new fishbot for ACTools...think it's still to be released tho. www.aeries.botanybay.net/
