New update? Damn, I was just getting used to the new MMO I was playing... i have to come back to FFXI now and play with a stable version of the software I LOVE? Darrn...
hehe j/k
You and Starhalk are just amazing. To do all of this for free just for the love of doing something that can help out your fellow players. Also trusting people so much to not take advantage of your generosity. I am consistently blown away by how much you help people with this, and how dedicated you are to this hobby.
TinyTerror, you are a gentlemen and a scholar. Thank you for your generosity…. And… And you're a Jolly Good Fellow....

Well don't get your hopes up. The new mem stuff starhawk gave me is a bit rough around the edges. Chat and most of the player datapoints are working, but tying to access target info is crashing ffxi right now. I think its something funky in the data validation code. Starhawk's demo of the mem lib works like a charm, but I don't have the source for it. If I did, I could adapt it to work with lunar. I have been unable to make contact with starhawk this weekend.
Also, treasures is going to come out in what, a little over a week? I can tell you with great confidance that it and its subsiquent patches are going to wreak havok on the memloc stuff. I am having trouble justifying pouring all this time into memloc stuff when its all going to get raped by SE in a week. So yeah, unless starhawk shows up and magicly makes everything work, I am thinking of waiting until after treasures to get the new version out.

a version that doesn't crash monitoring the chatlog would be very good imo i'd say release the next version disabling any troublesome memloc functions. the improved threading and other things you've worked on sound like an awesome base and would give people something to play with untill starhawk and you hammer out the memloc issues just my two cents, what you're doing is great and i wait with baited breath like everyone else who has toyed with lunar

Im not going to release a version where %50 of the stuff works. Thats just going to cause a bunch of people to pm me asking why the other 50% doesnt work like I said it wouldn't.

I expect that's what's keeping the newest windower from being released as well.
What sucks is that with this many updates and a whole new expansion, there will be after-shock updates. To fix things they didn't catch when testing it or to tweak up & down certain things.
So it will probably take a couple weeks to hammer out the memlocks from the initial release, then maybe 1-3 days to hammer out the changed memlocks from each after-shock update. So we're looking at a 1-2 month period of unrest probably (watch me eat my words)...
Oh well. I'm looking forward to the newest version. Give me an insentive to play FFXI again until Hero's Journey comes out.

Wow I havent played FFXI in about a month. My account is probably gone.............. well I will be getting back into FFXI soon and most likely will try to create some awsome scripts even though Ill be playing on my PS2 until I upgrade my computer.
I think its awsome what you guys are doing with Lunar and what the guys down at the Windower forum are doing is awsome. I have learned quite a few things with scripting since my last visit. LUA is great to work with in scripting and once the new version comes out Ill be starting to work on a few things that will hopefully be awsome.
(Like one thing Ill be making is something similar to MapMon but it will be through Lunar. The maps will be quite different than what anyone has seen so far. They'll be quite clear and I will have made them myself. You'll also have a selection of which kind of map. You could also go with the map that are on MapMon as well. Trust me it will be different. And I have other ideas for other projects as well)

At this point it is quite possible that the expansion will break the windower. I know the windower guys have been working on a new version for quite a while, and the expansion might be when they release it. When this happens, lunar is going to have to get overhauled to be compatible with whatever changes are made to the windower. Hopefully this will mean a lot of new native functionality. The only thing I can do now is to wait and see.

hehe nobody knows me but i have been keeping track on these forums so i know when to get back into FFXI. It sounds like now is the time. And as far as what is released when. I'll leave that up to you Tiny... SURE I want it now but this is your baby. I think you will know best of all when it should be released
If I could do anything even close to this then I would, but i cant. Thank you very much for your dedication to Lunar. I truley believe that I will look back on it as one of the highpoints in my life.
Need anything? Let me know.

I doubt the windower will break. Most of there code uses auto seeking technology and can find the memlocs by themselfs using pointers.

Heh, I know all about what the memloc code can and can't do. I've been working with starhawk for a long time on this. The memloc detection code is good, but not fool proof. With enough major changes to the game, the landmarks that the mem scanning code uses to find the pointers are no longer valid. Its good for minor version updates, not major expansions.
