For some time now, I've been entertaining the idea of a Smart Macro system. One that would supply not only dynamic tier casting, but an unlimited number of macro sets that are isolated to their specific job combo (ex. RDM/BLM sets would be separate from RDM/NIN). I've also been thinking of a feature that would also make another level of isolation between solo and party modes.
The concept of this is to supply as much macro space that any player would need (unlimited is a good way to go) and to make a system that can be semi-intelligent to reduce the need for redundant macros.
An example of usefulness would be if someone goes through a BCNM or a level capped area of some sort, they wouldn't need an extra set wasted just for that occasion, the macros would auto-adjust. Another is if a BLM runs low on MP and wants to get one last spell off (maybe to MB an SC that would've been set off), the macro system would auto-select a lower tier that the lower MP would meet, and if possible, cast that instead.
To trigger a Smart Macro would be similar to triggering an FFXI macro. Dynamic tier selection only applies to nuke spells of the specified element. A "Thunder" macro would select from tiers 4, 3, 2, and 1, in order, but would not attempt casting another element such as "Blizzard". Enfeebling spells with tiers, such as "Bio", "Dia", and "Poison" may or may not be covered. Healing spells such as "Cure" and "Regen" would be excluded from dynamic tier selection since there are many more elements to the decision of which tier to use based off of target HP. Tiered buffs such as "Protectra" and "Shellra" would fall under the same rules as enfeebling tiers and may or may not be covered.
