Write my own .lua script? I tried using one from this site and just copied it to an AutoIT new script thing, didn't work, so could someone fill me in?

Lunar has nothing to do with autoit. Just make a text file and paste you script to it. It doesnt need to be a .lua file even.

Nope. lua files are just text files. The .lua is just to make it easier for people to tell what the file is.
