I assume if you were running some ps2 mods it would be able to run this. Although you would have no warranty anymore and 0 support if something got messed up due to this.
Otherwise, nope.

you would have to have some heavy duty mods to be able to run scripts. Something on the order of a PC interface.

you would have to have some heavy duty mods to be able to run scripts. Something on the order of a PC interface. The PS2 is Linux based, and it is possible to actually install Linux on it (I've seen some kits around to do just this). Theoretically if you installed Linux on your PS2 and got FF XI running (probably through wine or winex), you could bot on it. It would be a lot cheaper just to get the PC version though.

The PS2 is not linux based. Linux distros for the PS2 run on top of the native ps2 software, and would not support the PC version of ffxi.

Actually, the PS2's OS is Linux based. It is Sony's proprietary Operating system, which is based on Linux. It's rather hard to find much information on the subject since Sony does not like to give out such detailed information, but it's out there if you look hard enough.

Even if you have linux running on the PS2, getting ffxi to run under wine well enough to bot just isnt going to fly. The PS2 just doesnt have the power or the memory to handle that. Whats really funny is if you had half of the know how needed to set up such a system, you most likely already have a computer thats more than powerful enough to play ffxi.

Good point about the PS2 being underpowered, I din't take into account how bad the PS2's system specs were. Also running a program under wine or winex roughly doubles the minimum requirements.

I suppose it would be possible to use a vidcap card and a parallel to ps2 adapter to allow your computer to "see" and control the game. This would put you in about the same place where ffxi scripting was before ffact came out. It would be an interesting setup to say the least.
