Right now i am having fun Moding my PS2 i have came up with designs for a mod to run linux it is possible. If you go to the Sonys web site that features PS2 it says that you can by the HDD with Linux! So you can realy say it isnt possible when the offical web site says it is ><. I know i am new to this message board but i like to interact and post ideas. Anyways i am also working on Xbox PC and Gamecube mods. First PS2 just to see if i can do Bots on it. There has to be a way to everything, so i will find it and let you guys know how it turns out. In the mean time i am going to try and create a bot that provokes the spook (revenge ^^) and if you get a GM called on you it has over 300 auto resposes. Obviously one at a time ><. So they cant suspect anything. Then i want to try an place in a part that when your inventory is full the bot makes you walk back to your mog and log out. ^^ oh ya the revenge thing i had this guy bot the spook and i lost the voke all three spawns so it is time for a little revenge. Well i am going to have fun creating the script i will probley be refering back here everyday or so to tell you how it is going. Well i hope i get it done soon so you all can have fun and make money in your sleep!

Learn the language and get a mod chip!

I know you can run linux on the PS2. This has been done for quite some time. The problem is that running linux on a PS2 doesnt get you any closer to running the windows version of FFXI. Even if you were able to get WINE or some other windows emulator running on a linux PS2, the overhead required to run the PC version of FFXI would be so great that it would be unplayable, or it wouldnt be able to run. Im not going to say its not possible, but from a hardware/software point of view, its not very likely. A better idea would be to write a boot loader for the PS2 that is capable of simulating player input in the background. I don't have any experiance doing this kind of thing, so I don't know how hard it would be. I assume alot of assembler and PS2 hardware know how would be required, putting it out of reach for casual programmers.

The two CPU's divide processes between them. The whole rig cost $1500 and is faster than any single chip pentium on the market.

AMD doesnt make a 4ghz chip. They may make a 4000 XP rating chip, but they don't run at 4ghz internally. I dont think intel even has a non OC'd chip that runs at 4ghz. My machine has dual 1.6 ghz opteron CPU's running on a tyan thunder K8W mobo with a gig of ram (512 per CPU). I'm not sure how much software architecture you know, so its sorta hard to describe how the whole system works. Essentially my machine is the same as a dual xeon 2.6 to 2.8 machine, but with 2 to 4 times the memory bandwidth due to the NUMA enabled motherboard.

The chip I think you are talking about is the Athlon 64 FX-55. This chip has an XP rating of 4000, but is actually clocked at 2.6ghz. Chips running with an internal core speed of 4ghz are not due out for a while.
If you could post a link about the 4ghz proc you saw, I would be interested in taking a look.

That machine still runs at 2.8ghz. The XP rating on the chip is 4.0ghz though.
