Yep. My system runs cool and quiet, owns most alienware systems, and cost 1/4 as much.

It rules cose almost 5k lol thats a lot i know but i hate not being able to move my computer so i bought that and am working on a nice computer that is going to be custom built. I am thinking duel 2.8GHz prossesers and 4GB ram 2 500GB HDD yess they make them i know its insane but why the hell not i would never run out of space. A 30" LCD moniter for no apperent reason and some speakers that are about 400 for them. I found these headphones that cost 3k who in the hell would buy them? well i will see if i can find them and post it.......in fact i will do that now Here you go here they are www.alienware.com/GearShop_Pages/Gear_Shop_Detail.aspx?ItemId=13011Buy some and tell me how they are! lol

Well, If you are going to go dual 2.8, you will need to buy opterons du to the Athlon FX's lack of SMP support (cant do dual). On newegg today, opteron 250's running at 2.4ghz, were $900 each. If you do dual procs right and get a numa enabled mobo, thats going to tack on another $500. Add ram to that and you are up over $2500 for a totally bad ass system.

Just make sure you dont buy more than you need. Having two CPU's isnt like having a 5ghz machine. You also have to set it up right in order to take advantage of the hardware.

Let me know what you end up going with. I still recomend that you build your own system or go with someone who can do this for you. Alienware machines are rather expensive, and you pay mostly for a rebranded box in a snazy case. Im a big fan of the plain white computer case. Its whats on the inside that matters.

ya but i figure if it looks smooth and shiny with some neon lights and blinking LED's that fade into diffrint colors it looks cool which means if you spent that much on your case the computer better be good....even though my friend took a old custom built computer and put neon lights in the case and flashing LED's >< i mean my god its 500MGz! I am still waiting for the power supply to blow! ^^ then i can laugh! Kinda like the X-Box with LED's and Neon lights that i am making i am just sitting there waiting for the damn power supply to start smoking and erupt into flames. Trusty fire extinguisers always by my side. Cuz i know it is going to happen adventualy and if it dont oh well i was atleast being somewhat safe. ;D

Yea most software doesn't even support dual proc's. Win XP will barley use it when vista is released next year (so they say) it will support dual proc's (so they say). Most all games doesn't support dual procs. So really the only use for it woudl be programming. And unless your doing alot of graphical work theres no need for duals.
I have a very basic system for my PC only cost 9 and some change like 950 or so.
Samsung 19" LCD for playing Viewsonic 15" LCD for mapmon & internet usage while playing P4 3.06Ghz ATI x1600xt PCI E 256meg 1 gig of ultra ram (low end ram) 120 WD drive SATA on board audio
and my FPS in FFXI never drop below 28 in game and thats full res with shadows on full and draw distance on. Draw distance = LOVE its nice to see forever with out shit just poping up on you. LOL

You are mistaken about XP not using dual procs. I agree that it's process allocation isn't the best, but for running multiple demanding aps at once, dual cores or procs can't be beat. Yeah, I can tell you first hand that having 2 cpu's wont help most current games, but support for it is on the way. The actual executable code for ffxi is total garbage. It requires a lot more power than it should, and only uses a single proc. This means that a person with a single really fast chip will blow away a person with 2 slower chips. My situation is different. I need to compile code while FFXI is running. Doing this on a single core/proc machine takes FOREVER. On my system it finishes almost instantly. Also, having a processor dedicated to running ffxi and nothing else is also kinda nice.

I designed my system specifically for playing FFXI and WoW, not simultaneously, but it works decent even under those conditions.
Basically, It has these components: Shuttle XPC Barebones (Case, Power, and Motherboard) AMD64 Athlon 3000+ Processor (Clocks at 2.0gHz) 1GB Kingston RAM (I think it's PC4100) 256MB MSI/nVidia GeForce FX 5700LE 80GB Western Digital Harddrive Conexant Generic 56k V.92 Voicemodem (Gaming at home, I use the onboard network card at work)
Considering one of my requirements for design was for it to be somewhat portable to carry it to work and back everyday. The Shuttle XPC barebones is a cube PC setup. Small and somewhat light enough to not to be too encumbersome carry it around all the time.
Considering budget and time limitations (ended up buying parts locally), this is a pretty sweet system.
Other peripherals: 2x 19" Acer AL1914 LCD Monitors (1280x1024 resolution on both) Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard (Yes, I finally got my hands on one) Logitech TrackMan Marble Wheel (A 7yr old trackball mouse I had laying around, still works great)

On to the subject. True, there is (or was) a Linux kit for the PS2. In the documentation for the kit, it described that indeed, it was a true Linux distribution, but every Linux program had to be recompiled on the PS2 in order for it to run properly. The PS2 is not compatible with binary code compiled on an x86 since the processor architecture is completely different.
